Forgot about this video. These guys get the morons of the year award. This is unconfirmed, but when I saw that video at an FDIC seminar on instructional techniques, it was explained by the speaker that the firefighters shown in the video were very recent graduates of a basic firefighting program which apparently never informed them that PPE isn't fireproof. If this was true, it would explain the casual way they entered the flaming structure, as if the fire couldn't touch them. This is when my training as an educator gets wound up and a stream of expletives come spewing from my pie-hole. Ignorance can be just as deadly as arrogance. To every officer and instructor out there: never assume they know ANYTHING!

Wow...just wow...trying to be heroes are they?
I wouldn't even think of entering that house, look at the smoke pouring out. That thing was ready to flash the second they popped the damn door.

Voyager I am with you on that one. What is really scary is I am sure there are a ton of fire departments like this all over the US. Not sure on the time because he shut the camera off a few times but things got bad real quick. The two words that come to my mind are ventilation and water.
Yikes!!!!

The officer(?) made the right call...take a couple of steps backwards and recognize what the situation really is: a 1 1/2 story dumpster (credit for that term goes to a 171 member I met while delivering reading smoke - a very apt description)
As 1710 alluded, there are a couple of times the camera stops, so the timeline gets jilted a little.....I have absolutely no problem with getting low in the doorway and hitting that scorching hot ceiling with some appreciable water to cool the temps, but entry?
Why?
Another thing to notice is that brownish-redish smoke coming from the roof later in the sequence...the supporting wood is burning by that time....

Pretty good video noticed some PPE infractions but they made a good knock on it.

I read 'More Info' and found the following... "but I chose FDNY because it was easy and it is the most recognizable department " FDNY rigs are TOO easy to do. I love challenges....thats me!

Not sure that anyone has posted this yet, but one of the best videos of FDNY I have seen recently. The title explains most of it. But just listen carefully to the crowd while the camera is filming!! youtube.com/watch?v=ugot3sLPTKU

don't know if you guys noticed, but sometimes, if you read the thing next to the video on Youtube, the person is selling or trading for a quality DVD copy of that video. I have one coming right now, and all I had to do is send the guy is a shirt.
