Apparently the State Division of Fire Safety will be releasing regulations regarding Firefighter II certification this month (I believe the 22nd) do any of those that instruct at the BCESTC know if and when the county will be offering the course? I was going to take it when they offered it 3 years ago as a pilot, but was told the state would not recognize it.

Fire II is coming. There have been several programs run throughout the state non are going to be grandfathered. Anyone that has taken a previous class will still have to take the state test. This is a voluntary certification. The ESTC will be offering a class once the state regs are in place. We are hoping for the Fall semester 08. It will include a state test just like fire I and those that pass will have the state cert. We are planning to offer a review class for those that have previously taken FFII and a challenge test. The challenge test is a on shot deal. If you pass get the cert. If not see you in class. Hope this clears up the confusion.

Is it gong to be a class that involves fire this time? Or like last time, a Primer for MCTO/FO1?

Hope to see this FFII this fall...I'll be one of the first to register, if I meet the prerequisites.

Hey, Inst. Taylor, any chance there will ever be Summer classes for people that go to college out of the area and cannot train during fall or spring semesters?

As far as summer programs, it is always a possibility. if there is enough of a demand to have good attendance, it is possible.

Steve,
Any idea if MFRI or Proboard FFII will be accepted or is it a challenge for the test no matter what?

Proboards stay tuned (may be something cooking there). Not sure how that will affect challenges. Will most likely still need to test out.

Well if there is a chance for Fire II, I can almost garuntee you'd have at least 5 guys out of Moorestown of college age, no questions asked. I'd love to help to get a Summer program started and spread the word if that ever comes up! Feel free to let me know

More on the Fire II Challenge. The test will be required for all challenges. Was speaking with State Training guys yesterday. When the program was being reviewed it was clear that there would be no grandfathering.
No progress right now on Summer programs. With the upcoming building projects at the ESTC ( New Building, Flashover simulator, Repairs and upgrades to existing buildings) our plate is going to be full this summer, so don't look for any classes.
We are brining back the single day HOT programs. We should be able to run some of them though. I will speak with the other Senior Instructors and see what we can put together for the summer guys. Send me some emails as to what you guys would like to see and when you would be available. On side note on summer classes. When it was done before (Fire I in 92 and 93). It was bad. This is from students that took the program. Way too hot. Guys dropping like flies. Students felt that because of the weather the quality of the program was down. Not something that I ans an instructor want to be a part of. Doesn't mean we can't do it again. Just giving you the history.

it doesnt necessarily have to be a class thats primarily outside/rigorous work...maybe a desktop class with one practical day or something like that, or an all classroom class for the degree guys to accomplish when they arent in classes at the university of burlington county. just a thought...

I challegned the test at GCFA and passed. Out of 33 guys I do believe the number was 28 that passed and I do believe that two of the five that didn't pass attended attended the full class. I passed with an 87. It was a cakewalk. The class itself needs to be re-arranged there is allot of duplicate information from Fire I. The one good addition is Foam Operations. I highly recommend that the instructor's who teach the class review the Delmar PP and make up their own. As far as the outdoor session there are only a few. Most of the guys that took the class in Gloucester County had some minor complaints, but this is always expected during the first run of any class.
