Maybe this will liven the board up a little and get some discussion going again!
One of the guys in my firehouse owns a company by the name of Brotherhood Instructors. brotherhoodinstructors.com They do all types of fire training, recently their forcible entry program has really taken off. They are offering a special right now that if a Dept. hosts an open enrollment forcible entry class they get 5 spots in the class for free. They need a training room, parking lot, and apparatus bay for the class. They handle the billing, advertisement, and all associated work for the class.
EVERYONE gets to force their own inward swinging door on both the axe and halligan and an outward swinging door on both the axe and halligan. Everyone gets to cut and force several padlocks as well as cut other metal lock simulators. Their are hundreds of through the lock props to practice on as well. After the rotations you can force the door simulator until you are too tired to force any more.
I just helped them teach a forcible entry class in a small rural town in Canada. In this small town we were able to find almost every type of lock or security device that can be found where I work in the Bronx. If these things exist in this small town they definitely exist in Burlington County.
The Instructors are from all over the U.S. and one from Canada. They are all down to earth guys and Brotherhood Instructors prides themselves on "talking to you, not at you." All of the guys that they have on staff that work in big city Dept's came from smaller Dept's and understand how under staffed and over tasked fire Dept's operate.
Check out the website. They offer a lot more than just forcible entry and will tailor a class to meet your Dept's needs. If you want any more info please email me or the address on the website. The on-line drills on the site are really good also.
Be safe,
