2007....... A Look Back

Since it's the last day of the year and I'm bored, I thought I'd start this thread up. 2007 was a decent year.

Many departments received new apparatus - 4314, 2514, 2521, 3719, 3135, etc.

We had one of the biggest wildfires that most of us will ever get the chance to see. River companies responding deep into the pines doesn't happen often.

There were many working jobs in the county this year. We were very fortunate to keep the injuries to a minimum and have no LODDs in the county this year.

The Watch Desk got popular but quickly turned sour so this site was created. The WebBoss deserves a pat on the back for keeping this site on a postiive track. I don't think anyone imagined this site becoming as successful as it has.

Keith's (Fire292Rescue) drawings are incredible. It's nice to see that there is a bigger whacker than me out there. (Not that that's a bad thing ;D)

Jay (Taskforce25) can find a picture of almost any truck in this county. His passion and dedication to the fire service is far better than most firefighters that I have met. If he can't find the pic you are looking for, try Greg (citywidepfdsq11).

Medford Farms Fire Co. represented Burlington County at the Wildwood parade this year as the only truck from the county to participate. Congrats to them as they took 2nd place in one of the ladder categories.

I know a lot more has happened this year than I have posted. Feel free to add to this. Let's look back on this year positivily and build for a great 2008. Happy New Year all!

Serious incidents... Tank truck overturned, trench rescues, Moorestown's Town Hall, Edgewater's Apartments, Egewater's Vehicle into Public Storage with 20 units off, numerous house fires all over (just about everyone had at least one), the forest fire, several good hazmat incidents... there's been a lot of action in the past year.

Let's see what '08 brings us! Just make sure everyone stays safe!

Vincent Fire Co. (171) also loaned Engine 1713 to 431 while Engine 4311 and Quint 4314 were OOS. Thats what the brotherhoods about. Great job by 171 and 431 working that out. That's true brotherhood right there, helping one in their time of need.

Lebanon Lakes was awarded to run EMS in Woodland Township. Mercy 299 was shutdown, 298 Lebanon Lakes EMS was opened. This was a huge step for 292 as our EMT numbers grew. As the months have passed the township along with many mutual aid ems squads have been supporting us 150%. 298 now has 2 rigs and is acquiring 2 more in the near future.

I'd like to personally thank Tabernacle Rescue for their generous,awesome and definitely needed assistance with getting things up and running.Big kudos to you guys and girls over there!We appreciate every piece of it!

I must say that 298 is doing a great job getting out an answering calls. Kudos to them for getting it together down there and doing a great job.

In the 43rd We joined together to create TF43 (431, 439) With this we have combined our rescue training and the Rescue is now jointly operated by fire and EMS personal. As well all calls that involve 431 and 439 use a TF tone to help to lesson the work for dispatchers.

Districts. 43, 28, and 371 participated in a regionalization study.

R4399 responded to its first rescue in Dist 29 for a 3 car entrapment.

Among many things, I have to rank the creation of this forum as being one of the most positive events of 2007. In a relatively short expanse of time, we've managed to put together a very valuable method of networking and information sharing...no small feat considering the diversity of the membership and departments represented. One of the fire service's greatest weaknesses is lack of cohesion...we tend to speak as little fire departments instead of a common brotherhood. This forum defies that tradition on a daily basis.....I have learned and come to appreciate the efforts of my fire service brothers and sisters more in the past three or four months than ever before...and that's certainly can't be a bad thing. Not to say I agree with everyone - the world would indeed be a dull place if that were true, but overall what I've discovered is a new found respect for all of us who willingly go in harm's way on a daily basis.

Thanks, Web Boss for the idea and effort...and to every member of the forum for making this a great place to visit and learn.

Let's never lose focus on the reason why it works so damn well: MUTUAL RESPECT.

Major forest fires worked the pines, and helped others in the county find where chatsworth is. LOL. Head on tractor trailer accident,in tabernacle 1 flown , 65 gallons diesel fuel leak. Old indian mills rd fire. The 3 alarm pig roast in southampton . leisuretown could even smell the bacon. 14 times dispatched fire police strike team D delta, more than normal. Team work personified dist 17 loan 1713 to 431 with oos equiptment, tanks 171 we appricated it. The rise and fall of the watchdesk
