What kind of apartment packs do you guys carry? Lenghts, sizes and nozzles.
We have an 1 3/4, tft tip with 150 ft. and a 2 1/2 with a sb and 100 ft of it.

Right now we run the same thing: Pack 1: 150' of 1.75", TFT, 5' of 3", Wye, tools Pack 2: 100' of 2.50", SB, Tools There was talk of going to a Metro-pack type setup. Instead of having everything in a single, rather heavy, pack we'd break it up. Two or three velcro'd length of folded 1.75" and all the tools in a separate bag. We drilled with this at the academy and the concept worked well.. certainly easier then lugging the highrise pack up 5 stories. The advantage was that its lighter and flakes easier. You can drop the lengths where you need them. The disadvantage is that its not preconnected.. you have to connect everything near the fire floor.. while masking up.. under smoke conditions. I just saw this online: www.westshorefire.com/oscommerce/product_info.php?cPath=73&products_id=538&osCsid=23fd023cab418d80eaa3465e44ca4998An interesting product, but smacks of overcomplicated and probably not worth $150.

Fires located within a few floors of the top floor/bulkhead door. Essentally the smoke builds pressure because of lack of a vent point and the fire floor is located near the top floor. This causes the smoke to push down until it is vented. Then the smoke goes up. With this a fire in a midrise building will fill the stairtower on lower floors if their is no vent point and a stairtower door is left open.

With this a fire in a midrise building will fill the stairtower on lower floors if their is no vent point and a stairtower door is left open. i thought you would catch me on that. that can happen with a specific senerio. you need a fire that has been burning for a little while, close to the top floor, and you need the apartment door and the stairwell door left open. if the apartment door is left open then that probally means someone was in there when the fire started so this fire has not burned for a while undetected. so im only saying that more likely than not, you are going to start your initial operation on the floor below the fire, where there may be light smoke but nothing that will hamper you connecting some hose. oh and cmcoller. are you asking me how many fires total ive been to including car fires and brush fires? too many to count bro. you have any advice what section of manhatten i should try to work in

If I've learned one thing over these oh-so-many years, it's never to say "never"......more weird, unexplained, baffling, and unexpected stuff happens at fire incidents than anywhere else!

this site doesnt seem like much of a brotherhood. why is one guy suggesting that they other guy try to get a job in an engine that is going to close. unless its an inside joke or something, otherwise i would think you would be helping each other

You just joined and used your first post ever to denounce the site and everyone that posts on it? What a great introduction. I, for one, cannot wait to read more of your inspiring and witty banter.
