I am pretty sure, or would hope that every dept. has at least one of these. I would like to know what your department has in the way of brand, total number, and how they are distributed throughout your apparatus.
Cinnaminson:
201: Has one of the Bullards that was given out by the state (TI Commander). In each engine (2011, 2012, 2013) there is a charger for the camera and spare battery. Whichever shift is on and depending on what engine they are riding they move it back and forth.
202: Has one of the Bullards that was given out by the state (TI Commander) and that is on 2021. 2025 was outfitted with the new Bullard T3MAX after it was delivered.
I took the thermal imaging class at BCESTC and after that class, I am a firm believer in TICs. Though I haven't used one in a actual structure fire, I feel comfortable knowing that if I go in with one of them it will make my life a whole hell of a lot easier.

I've often said that the two greatest fire service innovations in the past twenty years has been large diameter hose and thermal imagers. I actually got to use one during a basement fire in an apartment building...big, open area and smoke-filled. That friggin camera probably cut out five to eight minutes of fruitless search time by pointing me directly to the smoldering pile....
TIC: Don't enter without one!

Chief do all of your trucks have one or just one in each station....and what do you use?

Had the benefit of using the TIC at 1205 N. Church St. (Brandywine Assisted Living) for a reported alarm system that turned out to be a fire in their washing and drying room. Upon entry to basement division there was a light smoke condition that progressed as we moved towards the fire room. Thanks to the sprinklers, the room was darkened down a shit load and the fire was smoldering. 3112's Crew made entry to the fire room and knocked down the fire with an 1 3/4 hose and inside the dryer thanks to the TIC that I had to tell the nozzleman where the hot spots were. Absolutely valuable tool that everyone can use and should on every call from automobiles to GFA's.

4314 and 4311 both have the state issued bullards however one of them was purchased by the company not sure which one was. I have used it a few times but allways seem to forget it on the working fires when I wish I had brought it. I am looking forward to a TIC class being offered at BCESTC.

i love the tic......i got to take the tic class at fdic in indy a couple years ago and ever since then felt proficient in using this tool, yet always reading in the mags about innovative uses for this tool. i think the biggest blessing in disguise is that most of us use the bullards which is awesome for familiarity whether swapping out batteries or borrowing another companies tic....the tic is a great tool that is standard on all calls in the 31 from gfa's to confirmed work. station 311 carries two tics with chargers mounted in the trucks and spare batteries... 3112 and 3119 both carry the bullards

I would agree shader, but if something's not popular, it ain't making an impact.
I can remember many a "barn burner" back in the Fabulous Seventies that became that way simply because the technology we used wasn't adequate....there's only so much water you can stuff down a 2 1/2 (generally 250-300 GPM), which is not even close to what we really needed...yet we continued using it because "that's the way we've been doing it since "ought six".
The recent debacle in Charleston underscores this: for the life of me, I can't seem to comprehend why a modern day fire department would continue to use this as a supply line. One of the first things the Blue Ribbon Committee recommended to the mayor was to ditch the duece and a half.

Sad but true 3105, on another note, many don't have, equip & training, not for lack of wanting or knowledge, but for a lack of funds,
