From what I have seen. Do not like it. It makes it more confusing for the officer. Your this number but if you are in a command car you are this number. And if a rookie is driving the command car to the shop and comes across a incident they are the car number which is Chiefxxx etc. Gives a false feeling of a Chief is on location. What was wrong with the old system
EMSxx---Highest rank township wide Deputyxxx- For a Company/station highest rank supervisorxxxxx- junior officers
Just make the vehicle if they need a number ems support xxx etc.
Just a thought!!!!
sometimes you should just KISS it.
keep it simple stupid

I'm sorry but pretty soon we are going to need to carry a book to remind us what we are supposed to say on the radio. I really don't see why it matters if you are in your Chief's vehicle or not. Like shawn said just give the vehicle a number Car XXX, Car XXX, if the chief is not in it then thats what you are.

If a rookie is in the vehicle they should use thier cell phone! Last thing we need is central playing 20 questions with someone who doesn't know what's happening on the radio!!!!

I think only line officers should be able to drive the command vehicles, that way if they sign on in the command vehicle they can just use thier line number to sign on with.

Guys
What if they are taking the car to the shop or a training class and come across a call. They should be able to use the radio to call it in and relay information to incoming units. I think when OPS put Rookie he didn't mean a junior member he meant someone who is not a past officer or senior firefighter who is has the experience of a officer position but is more than capable of giving a radio report.

i'd be more upset with a rookie that was riding to wherever in a fd/ ems vehicle and came upon a fire / mva ect incident and didn't call it in than i would what number he used

Just say "Central Support ACBDE" and continue with your message, that notifies central they have someone on the scene, not an officer.
