Texas Chief Dies Of Injuries From Fire
Teague Volunteer Fire Department Chief Robert Knight, 42, has died of injuries he received while battling a building fire in downtown Teague.
Knight died Saturday night at a hospital in Tyler, where he was taken after he was injured earlier in the collapse of a wall.

A firefighter died Thursday of an apparent heart attack suffered while assisting with the massive California wildfire.
Robert Roland, 63, was a member of Anderson Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Ohio Firefighter Killed in Fire Truck Rollover
A Pitt Township volunteer firefighter was killed Monday night when a fire truck ran off the road while responding to a vehicle fire. Richard L. Kear, 58, of Harpster, was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m. at Grant Memorial Hospital in Columbus, according to the Bucyrus post of the State Highway Patrol. He had been taken to the hospital from the accident scene by medical helicopter.

Crash Kills New York Firefighter
Authorities today identified the victim of a fatal fire engine crash Tuesday evening as Ryan T. Barker, 25, of Big Flats.
Sheriff Christopher Moss said Barker died at about 6 p.m. Tuesday when he was ejected from the 1978 truck he was driving as it veered off West Hill Road A and crashed into a line of trees. The truck overturned, Moss said.

Firefighters from around the area converged in Winnsboro Monday to honor long-time Pickton-Pine Forest volunteer firefighter Joe Pat Jordan, who died Friday as a result of a heart attack suffered while responding to a call Wednesday.
Jordan, 71, dedicated 32 years of service to Pickton-Pine Forest Volunteer Fire Department, a department he helped found in 1976. PPFVFD's secretary/treasure was responding late Wednesday morning to a reported vehicle crash with an entrapment on County Road 2408 along with another firefighter. Shortly after they left the station, Jordan suffered a heart attack.

Missouri Firefighter Killed, Two Officers Shot
A rookie firefighter was killed and two police officers were wounded when a gunman opened fire in Maplewood early today. The gunman might still be holed up in a burning home, and police sharpshooters have swarmed the neighborhood near South Big Bend Boulevard and Zephyr Place.

Florida Firefighter Succumbs to Injuries
The U.S. Fire Administration is reporting the July 18 death of firefighter Johnny Bajusz after a vehicle accident on Jan. 16.
Bajusz, a member of the Layton Volunteer Fire Department in Sand Key, Fla., was responding to a recreation vehicle fire in his personally owned vehicle when he attempted a U-turn and was struck by another vehicle from behind.

It is with deep regret that we advise you that Fire Chief Frank Wichlacz of the Pulaski Tri-County Fire Dept. in Pulaski, WI was killed in the Line of Duty around 0700hrs this morning. Chief Wichlacz was in the fire station when apparatus was backing in and was pinned between two vehicles. The apparatus was returning from a Mutual Aid call. Our sincere condolences to all affected. While all the facts of this incident are out year, this reiterates the need for a CRITICAL REMINDER to all personnel for strict backing procedures and guidelines.

Illinois Firefighter Dies Fighting Blaze
Brian J. Munz was pronounced dead in the emergency room of OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac, according to a statement issued by Livingston County Coroner Mike Burke.
The Fairbury fire department was draped in black bunting Wednesday as firefighters and state fire marshals continue to investigate the scene of the fire, which also caused minor injuries to another firefighter.

New York Fire Police Officer Collapses, Dies
Fire Police Officer David Meron, 58, was found unresponsive Sunday night in the parking lot of the Hoosick Fire Department.
Meron had been a volunteer with the department for more than five years.

Fire Chief Killed in Northern Calif. Wildfire
Authorities say a firefighter has died while scouting a Northern California blaze.
Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Susan Gravenkamp said Sunday that investigators believed 49-year-old Daniel Packer of Lake Tapps, Wash., died Saturday. Packer is a fire chief.

Firefighter Killed in California Wildfire
Olympic National Park firefighter Andrew Palmer was killed fighting a fire in northern California Friday.
Eighteen year old Palmer, a National Park Service firefighter, was assigned to the Eagle Fire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The investigation into what happened continues.
