Has anyone ever gone to a wetdown, not a housing. We went to one in Kendall Park 2 weeks ago. We had a blast. Does anyone know of any that are being held closer to Burlington County? I know there is one on LBI in October, but are there any others sooner? Here are some pictures from that day. We teamed up with East Franklin & Community Fire Companies and kicked the arsses of the other 7 companies. The attack: The response from us: Some Videos: The End:

I do not know of any wetdowns but there is a parade in Jackson Mills in August. I believe the 16th. I have been trying to find some info on it. Wheaton Village has an antique muster on August 17th. They have a barrel fight and bucket brigade competition. And of course there is always Wildwood if you want a parade. I have never been to a wetdown but I hear they are fun. But then again, I am a full blown whacker.

Thanks for the info, I will look into Wheaton Village & J-Mills.
As far as wildwood. We have always had a policy of not taking a truck OOS to prepare for a parade. I agree with that, so there fore we will never be able to get a truck upto the standards of wildwood. I've helped other companies get ready for wildwood, and they go all out, truck OOS for a week or 2 before the parade, repainting the under carrage, q-tips in the cab, ect........ We don't have the luxury to do that.

Yeah, Wildwood is no joke. It's even harder when you don't take the truck out of service while you are cleaning it. And there is always a fire that week that the truck you have been working has to go to. That's just how it works. I will try to get some more info on Wheaton village for you. If you find anything about J-Mills, please PM me.

Speaking of Wildwood...on the judging portion...a lot of companies that get apparatus judged...they put brand new or relatively new equipment on the truck to make it seem all fancy. To be honest, thats total bs to the companies that clean and polish their rigs to almost brand new condition with its TRUE fire equipment still on board. IMO it jips those guys and girls off. Personally it should be a rule, equipment thats used on the fireground that has been USED should remain on it...putting new just butters the judges up and it really isn't fair to the people who really put in their time.

You mean "parade equipment"? The tools that have never seen work? Must be nice to have the money for that many tools.

It is pritty amazing. I know for a fact we don't have a stich of "clean" hose in our building. And as far as equipment goes....... Nothing New, Nothing totally clean, It's kept tidy, but that's the extent of it.
When we were getting Judged at Kendall Park the judge kept saying "you need to clean this, if you expect to compete in Wildwood". I simply thanked him for the input. The last time we competed in wildwood was............ 1986/1987 when 1813 was brand new, and we didn't even win then!

Mumbles (and anyone else intersted) - I saw a flyer for a triple housing and 125th anniversary parade on Oct. 4 at Beach Haven (LBI). I can try to get more info for you if interested.

Not a wetdown, but another parade I just saw. Pomona Fire Company in Galloway Township is having a housing and a building dedication. I've been to a parade there before. It will probably start at Stockton College if anyone is familiar with that area. If anyone wants any info on it, PM me and I will see what I can come up with for you.
