How many departments would send guys to the academy for a big rig class? The program is 90% done.

The big question, how much would it be per student?

I'd be in as well. There's a lot of interest at 292/298 about doing Big Rig, Bus and Intermediate Extrication through a local agency.
Im sure if the county gets one running we'd go there.

I sure Cinnaminson would go for this one too. Also, you guys should ask other departments to bring their rescues except for just 272 and 191. Lets see some 8011, 2013, 3119, 2329,etc. out there.

Kinda like how Truck and Engine classes go. Try to get the sending departments apparatus involved. BUT, make it worth-while apparatus, not the combi-tool queens. Personally I'm interested, even though I prefer local delivery over ESTC anyday. Just keep the damn Holmatro guy and his "Core Technology" crap out of the way.

Rescue engines need more then just a combi-tool.

To answer a few of the post.
We have used 363, 342, 191, 311 (for the Arc Air) and 272. I have no problem using someone else as long as they have the complement of wood and tools. Especially for a big rig class. We will need apparatus that has;
Enough small cribbing, (4x4 including wedges)to crib atleast 2 vehicles in any position.
Enough Stairsteps to crib 2 cars.
A compliment of 6x6 cribbing.
Long and short cribbing paratech, z-mag, rescue 42 struts, junk yard dogs) it doesn't matter atleast four.
Pickett hold fast system.
Winch and come alongs with chain package (grade 7 or 8) minimum.
Hi-Lo Jacks
Air Chisel
Sawzall's with spare blades that the ESTC doesn't replace
Spreaders and cutters.
Bonus equipment:
Hot work, torch set, petrogen, arc air cutter, plassma cutter.
Pedal cutter
Little giant ladder
More CRIBBING
I am probably missing a few things.
Just remember these companies don't get reimburesed for their time. We use their gas, blades and cribbing. Also their rescue will be out of service for the better part of the day.
Did I mention allot of cribbing!!
Sean for the Holmatro guy he usually gets assigned a station due to a lack of instructors. This I cannot control I can't make guys show up nor can I discipline them. That lies with the higher ups.
As far as the cost we have to figure out where we can get the trucks from as well as the buses. So logistically this will be harder to run as well as the bus. So that I do not have an answer to. I am going to make a few calls to see if we can get some trucks.

I will ask at work, 2013 has most of your required list and parts of your bonus list.

Dont forget the scaffolding like we have the rescue Scott. I would go to the class if its offered. A lot of the towns around here have more than enough potential, but its hard to practice. The last big rig rescue we had I was stuck driving while you were "cutting" it up.

2923,4399,2521 just to new a few more Not trying to bash anyone, but 2521 is not a rescue and probably not the best suited for a big rig extrication. Rescue engines need more then just a combi-tool. That is why 2518 would be a better choice of a rig to bring.

The big question, how much would it be per student? Question is do you have the equipment to participate and to run calls if a tractor trailer was involved and there are entrapment?

Scott: let me know as far in advance as possible and we can probably get 3119 set up....after completing Big-Rig, we bought a pick to use with our Little Giant ladder to set up a scaffold. 19 has a lot of the stuff on your list but not everything...
