I have one. Use it every chance I get, which is usually after the fact.

I've seen a few people that use them. Does anyone know of any sites where they have video of people going interior with them? They are made to stand the heat, i just cant find the videos..

Scotty, it is ok, a little grainy, but it is adjustable, you can ramp the FPS down so it takes longer vids, or up for better quality. The only audio you can really hear is the noise the wearer makes, so maybe meshing the tapes from central and a recording of the Ops channel over it would make for some good film. Daytime gives good video, night time is crappy. The thing seems to need light, it doesn't seem to be able to self adjust for lighting. Watch the ones on firehelmetcam.net, and thebravestonline.com. the ones that are helmet cam will be labeled and obvious once you watch them. I took mine off of my helmet until I can find a more stable way to mount it because mine shakes around a lot. It was obvious I took it off, because we had a cut job that night. Dean

I'm trying to decide if a helmet cam is a good idea or a really bad idea....for all the "ups" if offers, I can think of a few, somewhat important "downs" I wouldn't want to deal with.
Hmmm...."Firefighters Gone Wild".....LOL

Helemt cams could shed light on firefighting for the public. I would show them what we see in a fire. The only bad part is, it is one more thing on your helmet. They don't weigh much but they are something else that can get caught on something...

Im not sure what I think of them. It's one more thing to worry about. To those of you who have them, in the heat of the moment do you forget to turn them on? How much footage is wasted to lots of smoke?

yep, I almost always forget, and when I do remember it is not something I can do because I am involved in other stuff already. Watch the ones on the net, even when you cant see shit with the camera, the audio is good, and hey maybe you might catch a collapse.
