11/5/07 - 31-year-old FF Jeremy Wach, Wymore FD, Nebraska
Nature of death: Roof Collapse, Trapped
Officials say 31-year-old Jeremy Wach of Wymore was pronounced dead at the scene and that he was a volunteer for the Wymore Fire Department and Gage County jail administrator. Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour says three firefighters went into the house early Monday morning to knock down the flames. The roof apparently collapsed, trapping Wach. The other firefighters couldn't immediately rescue him, and they suffered minor injuries. The mother and her two children who live in the house had escaped without injuries.

Nature of death: Heart Attack
Fire Chief Stanley Engdahl of McPherson County Rural Fire Department responded to the scene of a residential fire with the fire department and EMS on November 12th. Shortly after the small fire was under control and units were clearing the scene, Engdahl suffered an apparent heart attack and passed away.
11/13/07 - Fire Chief Ron Bennett, Orcutt FD, California
Nature of death: Heart Attack
Fire Chief Ron (Ronny) A. Bennett of the Orcutt Fire Department died Wednesday at the age of 39, leaving his co-workers and family stunned and grieving at the news. Orcutt Fire District received a medical call November 13th at 2241 hours. Fire Chief Bennett was paged at his residence, but apparently while preparing to depart he suffered a heart attack. Fire department personnel found Bennett at his residence deceased the following day.

Nature of Death: Collapsed on duty (unknown reason)
Senior Kansas City, Kan., firefighter Michael J. Tluscik collapsed and died Wednesday while on duty at his fire station. Tluscik, a 48-year-old father of five, had worked for the department since January 1992, said Assistant Chief Craig Duke. He said Tluscik was transported to an area hospital about 11:30 a.m., but doctors could not revive him. It was unclear Wednesday what caused his death.
