I hope this thread isn't petering out...seems like we're not enticing enough responses lately. let me know if we need to change things up. Here's the next one, courtesy of Web Boss, photographer unknown: What's your take? Offensive, Transitional, Defensive and why? What are your primary strategic and tactical considerations (aside from life safety, which is implicitedly understood). Assume a normal response of two engines and a truck.

Offensive. It looks like it is starting to run.
Get in there pull the ceilings and hit it hard. Truckies to the roof to trench it. Additional crew in the unit next door to pull the ceilings and prevent or stop extension. Hopefully the combination of that trench cut and the hose teams you can stop this before it escalates.

Offensive, Start pulling the ceilings at the top of the steps and see how far it has gotten up into the common cockloft. Get water up into that cockloft as soon as you get to where it has extended to. If you happen to get to the room before you get to the extension, then put it out then and there. This is a 1-3/4 job with a back-up line for safety.

1 engine for a inch and 3 to second floor and primary search 2nd engine for establish water supply 2nd line for back up. 3rd engine to assist the other two engines 1st Truck is to ladder and trench I would assume common attic so stop the run 1st rescue for secondary search or Rit Add a Fourth engine or ladder as your Rit or just extra manpower.
Very common fire in Ferry station apartment in Camden. they had common roofs if there was any delay of water on the fire or notification they would lose the whole building. Most of the time they aggressively attack and held it to the original apartment. But, there were times when in ran the common areas

Looks like a room off...the fires not blowin real hard...
Eng 1 - 1 3/4 to Div 2, searches, start hookin the ceiling... Eng 2 - water supply and back up line, and start opening as well... Trk 1 - split the crew, crew to the roof, once they get water on the fire you can determine if you need the roof opened or a trench..., the second crew start throwing ground ladders...
Would request another 2 and 1 response...just in case....

1 3/4 to div 2 @ one for protection, have a crew to div 2 to creck were the extension is. write off the first unit and try to save the rest.

A good point....will attempt to do a bit more research when posting, although many times all we have is one or two "hot shots"

go in and get it. I agree with Chad. It is one room off that self vented through the window. Smoke is not pushing from the eaves yet. Quick knock and search, truck to pull ceilings and prepare for the roof if it takes off during set up.
(3) engines (1) truck (1) rescue/RIT

being repetitive, u have to attack this one. 1 3/4 or the two inch will do it. a quick knock, and the opening of the walls will do it. maybe at most a 3 and 2 job with the 2nd ladder for the rit team.
