2008 St. Florian Day Service
Mark your calendars!
The 2008 St. Florian Day service will be held Sunday May 4th at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, High Street, Mount Holly. The Reverend Sunil Chandy, Rector of the Church, and The Reverend Frank Jago, Rector Emeritus, with a committee of firefighters organized the first service last year.
St. Florian is the patron saint of firefighters. This is not a memorial service but a service to honor St. Florian and for the blessing of fire apparatus and firefighters.
The schedule is that apparatus will be staged on High Street between Grant and Rancocas starting at 5:00 pm.
At 5:30 the crews will assemble at their apparatus for the blessing of the apparatus by the various clergy. Following that, there will be a procession lead by a Color Guard and a piper. The firefighters will fall into line as the procession proceeds to the Church.
The service will begin at 6:00. The St. Andrews choir will participate. The Reverend Phillip Stowell, Rector of Trinity Church Moorestown and Chaplain of the County Firefighters Association, will be the preacher.
Following the service, the procession will leave the church and go to the parish hall for refreshments.
All firefighters who participate will receive a St. Florian medal.
