To clear up the confusion...
"Specialed" to me means that they were on the assignment, but for whatever reasons, they were not in their "place" according to the grids. Technically speaking, the Olive Ave incident was the equivelant to the 2nd alarm they have predesignated for that grid, but the 2nd alarm was never officially called for. There's a multitude of reasons how the incident could have escalted to this level, but at that time of the morning I could see it easily be companies backfilling slow to respond companies or what not.
Quint 3915 is from New Egypt Fire Company, Ocean County. I guess I should've designated that somehow.

myself i was not at this call but talking to the fire fighters that were there from my station and fort dix it was a quik knock down.the fort ,181 along with 191 made short work of the job.1850 wanted the man power because of the time of day and the cold wheather.

I didn't hear much on the radio, but I was there. There was heavy smoke banked down 2 blocks, when RE1911 arrived with 5. Ft. Dix was getting a knock on the fire, there was heavy smoke as well as heavy fire in the attic. Our crew was split, with 2 going interior and myself an 2 other FF's (including one who just found out he passed the state test the day before) going to the roof. We helped the rook quickly cut 2 vent holes, the guys inside were quite relieved as they had almost backed out due to heavy fire above them and high heat conditions. Our second vent hole wasn't venting because the interior crews hadnt hooked that part of the ceiling yet, so we broke open some drywall with the trusty NY hook and in the process coated one of our guys in blown-in insulation...when I got down off the roof he was coming out the front door looking like he was tared and feathered lmao.
The crews were able to get a knock on the rest of the fire, but there were a few holes in the floor and the ceiling beams in a couple areas burned through. Crews did an excellent job and manpower didn't seem to be an issue, I think it was a better safe than sorry call. I know 2116 was added mainly due to lack of hydrants.
