so we'll just continue to justify on and on and on why we should take a back seat to politics, resources, money, police, etc. got it!

As the IC, who is going to tell you no? ? Add ALS if you feel the need, PERIOD!

True, but as for the same reason you have RIT on the all companies you should have your other units as well. What IC is going to arrive on the scene of a well in-depth incident and think about bls/als or medical needs of what his guys "might" need. In that unreal world we live in most of the time it's easy to say yes. But you know when you get there at 3 AM that's not one of the things that's on your mind. I could be wrong and would like to think a lot of people would think like that, but reality is what it is. Under pressure we operate and think differently all of the time. If we take the human error and "invincibility" out of it then the decisions are automatic.

I think when a fire goes all companies it should be automatic that a Medic unit and at least a second bus gets added.

I think from all the comments that I am seeing this is fuel to the fire to start getting away certain select ambulances based in strategic areas. This would solve part of the problem. It is coming, I just heard a radio message from the new medical director for CHFD from Cooper ER in reference to Cherry Hill trying to get paramedics on the ambulance. It's about time we come around and for those who bill just think of the added income. I know the 27 would benefit from this. Just think tootall you can ride as a medic again!! LOL!

I read all the post and I 100% AGREE with medics on all companies in service, it's just like a RIC company 99 out 100 times you don't need them but when you do, it's nice to know they are standing fast ready to do whatever it takes to get help you out! On the other hand there's not enough medics in the county, so it should be on the IC to request them if they want them until there are more in the county.

In theory I think we can all agree its a great idea. But the real question remains is the feasibilty THANK YOU.... This is great. But, IS it POSSIBLE? Yes, it is very possible. Just like all other resources in out county, everyone has a back-up, and mutual aid is a wonderful thing. Everyone (even myself at times) says that we only have 5 ALS units, when in fact, we have many more then that. There's no reason Camden County units can't move up into Burlington County areas, same for Mercer County. Now on the south end, Monoc's units as well as Medic 7 and Medic 10 are always willing to come more into our county the we normally use them. It's not nessecarily that we don't have enough resources, it's that we as the incident commanders, coordinators, dispatchers, whoever; have to get a little more creative in how we distribute these resources.

Monoc is always willing to come do calls. They usually have an ALS unit hanging around the Pemberton Area. Proof is in the pictures. Not that it's "totally" bad thing, just never called to help out.
Off the topic: Think Outside the Box. Instead of calling Medic 32 or 35 from the other side of the state to Pemberton, call Monoc and see if 211 (in Lakehurst 8 miles from Pemberton Border) or 246 (Manahawkin 11 miles from Woodland). Chances are (during the day) Monoc will tell you they have a crew at Deborah. Just food for thought.

I have spoke with certain Medic Supervisors and they suport this, they have taken it up the chain and from what I gather the agree it has its place...
My Grids have some updates for the new year due to changes made through the Pemb Regional Chiefs Assoc....
With those changes I have added an ALS Unit to all my 2nd alarm grids as well as All Companies In-Service at my High Hazard Grids...
The Medics feel as long as they are not abused and released as soon as realisitically possible it should not be a problem...they also thought they should be added during extremely high or low temperatures.

Myself and Chief Pratt discussed this, and attempted to figure out how to go about getting this started...we were hesitant to take it to the Chiefs Assoc as it would be delayed...we also discussed where this could fit in and we both felt that too many fires are put In-Service and did not warrant it, but at the same time how many All Companies fires do we have a year in the County? So we figured the 2nd alarm would be a good place to start and we could request them sooner if needed. I then spoke to a few Medic Supervisors as well as a few Medics and asked for their input and here we are! Dispatching Medics to fires is really no different then dispatching Medics to an MVC for mechanism of injury...
